John Lawrence’s family has lived in the Oak Park-River Forest community for almost 100 years. Born and raised here, John left to attend University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, but returned to launch his career and start his own family.
Initially, John worked as a middle school special education teacher and basketball coach in the River Forest Public School District. While he loved working with students for over a decade, he became interested in residential real estate and made a change. After working for a local office a few years, John was eager to start his own office, Nickel Real Estate Group, in 2006. His goal was, and remains, to provide unparalleled support to Brokers so they could meet the changing needs of clients. He affiliated with Weichert, Realtors® in late 2008. In 2018 Weichert Realtors- Nickel Group was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago.
As Managing Broker for BHHS Chicago , John hit his stride as a mentor and business coach for other Broker Associates. He has created a culture of high standards, mutual support and community involvement in his company, and he recruits Brokers who share his passion and values.
