Cory Kohut knows Oak Park like the back of his hand. Born and raised in the village, he loves the unique homes and wonderfully diverse community. Cory’s devotion to his hometown translates into a very personal experience for his clients, who are, after all, his neighbors.
Cory wants every buyer or seller to feel like his only client, so he continually offers a high level of service. Cory provides listing information as soon as properties hit the market; responds quickly to messages; answers every client question; coordinates contractors, inspectors and other professionals; and offers information and assistance with village permits and regulations.
In addition, Cory loves to share his knowledge of the local market and national trends in his blog on www.weknowoakparkhomes.com. Each week, Cory provides a recap of listings, contracts and closings in Oak Park, River Forest, and Forest Park. He distills the latest real estate news at the state and national level. And he shares information about community events and new businesses. Clients can rely on Cory to provide a one-stop source for essential information on buying and selling.
Cory is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely diligent. He’s a tough negotiator and advocate for his clients from offer to closing. To him, success is helping his clients achieve the exact outcome they want, whether it’s finding their dream home or selling for top-dollar.
In high school, Cory’s first job was in a real estate office, which sparked an enduring interest in the field. After earning a Bachelors degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Science from the University of Illinois, and a certificate in Geographical Information Systems from Elmhurst College, Cory spent a few years negotiating multimillion-dollar projects for FEMA. But he was ultimately drawn back to a real estate career as a Broker Associate. In his first six months as a REALTOR®, Cory produced $2 million in sales.
Cory partners with his mom, Barbara, who’s been an agent since 1991. As Team Kohut, this mother-son duo provides deep expertise, attention to detail and seamless service to clients throughout the western suburbs.
Impeccably maintained and lovingly restored are the words for this Oak Park classic. Nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac street in the Longfellow school district on an oversize lot, the house and garden reveal their charm in many details. Original oak woodwork runs through the house; art-glass windows, gorgeous French doors and a grand built-in sideboard grace the first floor, which includes a powder room. The modern kitchen is well-designed with quality materials: granite island and counters, ss appliances, custom pantry cabinets and thoughtful lighting. Second floor has 4 bedrooms, new windows and updated bathroom. Nicely finished basement has another full bath, family room, office and/or guest space, and a squeaky-clean laundry room with loads of storage. For even more space, the unfinished 3rd floor walk-up attic offers interesting possibilities. Large backyard includes mature plantings and vegetable beds, a generous-size deck for outdoor grilling and entertaining. The double garage sits next to a space that could be converted for parking as well. Mechanical systems include SpacePak air conditioning - great to have with radiator heat, updated plumbing, Andersen thermal pane windows, drain tile and sump pump, newer tear off roof and full exterior insulation, new hot water tank, washer and dryer. Awesome location to get into the city. 4 blocks to the CTA Green Line, 5 blocks to the CTA Blue Line. Easy access to I-290 and steps away from the Harrison Arts District, parks, great schools.
